Generative AI & Art
How is Generative AI changing the production and valuation of art?
Generative AI’s novel capacities raise questions about the future role of human expertise: does it level the playing field between professional artists and laypeople, or does expertise enhance AI use? Do visual art skills transfer to these tools?
Once AI-generated art is made, what factors drive its valuation? How do people allocate credit and responsibility to individuals involved in AI-generated artistic production? And how does the language used to talk about AI art impact such perceptions?
We explore these kinds of questions through an empirical lens with various human stakeholders. We hope that these empirical findings can inform the ongoing societal debate around art in the age of AI.
