The Servers (2025-)

‘The Servers’ is a series of paintings that depict the server rack—the heavy, humming monoliths that house the new Artificial Intelligence minds we are creating. The series explores the silent gravity these objects now hold, becoming focal points for rituals that blur the line between maintenance, surveillance, and worship.

Set within a quiet theater of heavy velvet, the work invites a re-examination of the power dynamics at play. The human figures appear not as masters, but as attendants—supplicants draping, propping, and consulting the machine.

We call these systems 'servers,' a name that implies utility and subordination. Yet, we provide the necessary offerings of data, energy, and ceaseless cooling. This liturgy of maintenance poses a key question: who, exactly, is serving whom?
